SoundCode for DTS
plug-in suite for Pro Tools

Pro Tools LE and
Pro Tools M-Powered
Compatibility
Low-cost Encoding Workstation
The SoundCode for DTS Encoder is an AudioSuite plug-in and is compatible with Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered. Even though Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered are limited to mono/stereo tracks and busses, an AudioSuite plug-in can access multiple tracks. This allows you to encode a surround mix by importing all channels into mono tracks, highlighting them, and processing them with the SoundCode DTS Encoder. For example, if you import all six channels of a 5.1 mix into six mono tracks, you can highlight all six tracks, open the SoundCode DTS Encoder, and click the "encode" button. As long as you have ordered the tracks correctly, SoundCode will read all the tracks and encode them into a DTS surround encoded file.
How to encode with Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered
1. Import Tracks - Import an existing surround mix into Pro Tools mono tracks
2. Order Tracks - Order the tracks to the Film, SMPTE, or DTS standard.
3. Open SoundCode - Open the SoundCode DTS Encoder AudioSuite plug-in.
4. Encode - Click the "encode" button.
Note - 96 kHz encoding requires DV Toolkit and Pro Tools hardware capable of 96 kHz sample rate
Low-cost Surround Decoding Workstation featuring Direct File Decode
The SoundCode for DTS Decoder features surround decoding in Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered software. Even though Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered are limited to stereo plug-ins, surround decoding is made possible by using auxiliary output stems for the additional outputs. The decoder plug-in will output each surround channel indovidually on an auxiliary output stem which can be routed to an individual output on a Pro Tools peripheral such as MBox 2 Pro or 002. Pro Tools also features integrated Quicktime video so you can have a complete audio-visual mastering-quality test system. Direct File Decode keeps everything synchronized with complete random access.
How to decode surround with Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered using Direct File Decode
1. Stereo Tracks - Create three stereo aux tracks in Pro Tools.
2. Open SoundCode - Open a SoundCode DTS LE 5.1 Decoder (RTAS) on a stereo track.
3. Point To A DTS File - Click the "browse" button and select the DTS file.
4. AOS Inputs - Select the SoundCode DTS aux outputs as inputs on the other two aux tracks and set the track outputs.
5. Press Play - Set the cursor anywhere in the timeline and play. Direct File Decode assures the decoded audio is synchronized with the timeline and Pro Tools video.
