Can I use the realtime decoder with Apple's DVD Player?

Yes you can if you are using a G5 that has an optical digital output. You must configure DVD Player to output the Dolby Digital data stream. In DVD Player, select Preferences, set Audio Out to Digital.

Is Pro Tools 7 supported?

Yes, Pro Tools 7 is supported. In fact, Pro Tools 7 is recommended. This is because Pro Tools 7 replaced HTDM with improved RTAS functionality that SoundCode takes advantage of.

SoundCode For Dolby Digital - Release Notes

Version 1.0.4, released January 20, 2007

LCRS Decoding - The AudioSuite decoder plug-in was not decoding LCRS Dolby Digital files correctly.

Punch Encoding - The encoder plug-in was not punching the timecode correctly when punch encoding a Normal+Timecode AC3 file.

Version 1.0.3, released November 13, 2006

OS X Universal - The plug-in will operate on Intel-based Macintosh computers.

Version 1.0.2, released July 10, 2006

BSI Ext - LoRo Surround Mix and LtRt Surround Mix - These control ranges were changed to match the ATSC standard (A52 rev B). These controls had choices of 3.0, 1.5, 0, -1.5, -3.0, -4.5, -6.0, -inf as per Dolby's licensee documentation. But the standard does not allow the settings of 3.0, 1.5, 0. So, these controls have been changed to replace the invalid settings with -1.5. If you previously encoded material using the invalid values, Dolby decoders will use a value of -1.5 instead.

Bitsream Info - Center Mix and Surround Mix - These controls were changed to be disabled when BSI Extensions are enabled. This was done because these control settings are not used when BSI Extensions are enabled. The LoRo Center Downmix Level and LoRo Surround Downmix Level control settings are used so that the downmix levels indicated in the bitstream are consistent.

23.976 Frame Rate - Normal+Timecode AC3 files did not have correct timecode when Pro Tools was set to 23.976 frame rate. This has been fixed. Pro Tools 7.0 or greater is required because Pro Tools 6.9 does not properly notify the plug-in of the frame rate when 23.976 is selected.

File Name - The maximum length of the output file name is increased to 127 characters.

Version 1.0.1, released Feb 22, 2006

Incorrect BSI Extension Values - These BSI Extension values were not getting set properly by the encoder: LoRo Center Downmix level, LoRo Surround.

Downmix level, LtRt Center Downmix level, LtRt Surround Downmix level. This is fixed.

Encoder Frozen on OS X - There was one report of the SWOD when trying to encode. The problem was traced to a permissions issue. The code was changed to work around the permissions issue.

Version 1.0.5, released June 14, 2007

Decoder File End Time - The decoder was displaying the wrong end time for long files. This is now fixed.

Version 1.0.4, released March 22, 2007

44.1 kHz Encoding - The encoder plug-in now supports encoding of 44.1 kHz sample rate DTS-CD files.

Version 1.0.3, released February 12, 2007

AOS For Pro Tools LE - The decoder plug-in now includes stereo types that output additional surround channels on auxiliary output stems.

44.1 kHz Decoding - The decoder plug-in now supports decoding of 44.1 kHz and 88.2 kHz sample rate DTS files.

Version 1.0.2, released November 13, 2006

Intel Macintosh Supported
The plug-in now operates on Intel-based Macintosh systems.

WAV file output fixed - When encoding and outputting to a WAV file, the WAV file header length did not correctly indicate the length. Some applications interpreted the WAV file as half the length it actually is. This has been fixed.

96/24 Encoding to WAV Fixed - When encoding in 96 kHz sessions and outputting a WAV file, the WAV file was incorrectly written as a 96 kHz WAV file. A DTS stream is always 44.1 or 48 kHz when formatted as a WAV file. This problem has been fixed.

Version 1.0.1

Inconsistent 96 kHz Decoding Fixed - When decoding 96/24 streams, the decoder output was not consistently the exact same PCM sample values from one decode pass to the next decode pass. This has been fixed.

Track Stream Decoding Stabilized - When decoding streams with input set to 'track stream,' the decoder could crash if an external input was used but Hardware Setup synchronization was set to Internal and it could crash when the DVD player was fast-forwarded or rewinded. This has been fixed.

The Center % control of the mono and stereo panners was not functioning correctly when Front Divergence was less than 100. This is now fixed.

The Mix 51 User's Guide incorrectly described how to migrate panning automation to Pro Tools HD by incorrectly saying that the rear pan control should be set to the default setting. The guide has been updated to correctly say that the Mix 51 left-right pan automation must be pasted into the rear pan control.

Version 1.0.2, released August 24, 2007

Automation of the left/right control was reversed if copied and pasted to the Pro Tools HD surround panner.
